PEI Woodlot Owners Association, Skills PEI offering chainsaw courses
February 25, 2019 By Ellen Cools
In an effort to attract more workers to P.E.I’s forestry sector, Skills PEI and the P.E.I. Woodlot Owners Association are offering free courses on how to safely operate a chainsaw.
According to CBC News, the courses will include directional tree felling, limbing and cutting up logs. The associations will host the courses at various locations across P.E.I. depending on public and industry interest.
Co-ordinator Jesse Argent told CBC News that there is “more work than people” in P.E.I.’s forest industry. The courses are likely to start in the next month, once there is less snow in the forests.
