Quebec hardwood flooring company shuts down logging operations

A Quebec hardwood flooring producer is shutting down its logging operations by the end of the month, leaving 165 people out of work.

Lauzon Planchers de bois exclusifs, which has been producing hardwood floors for more than 30 years in Papineauville, Que., said in a statement last week the recent closure of Fortress’ paper mill in Thurso, Que., led to their decision to stop logging.

The company did not say whether or not logging would resume if the paper mill reopened.
