Resolute offers Lumber

July 23, 2013, Montreal – Resolute Forest Products has offered Lac-Mégantic a large volume of lumber to help rebuild the downtown core that was devastated by the recent train derailment and explosion.

In a letter to Lac-Megantic Mayor Colette Roy-Laroche, Richard Garneau, president and CEO of Resolute Forest Products, announced the donation to the community for the reconstruction of public and community buildings.

Headquartered in Montreal, Resolute has more than 5,000 employees in Quebec and more than 8,000 in North America. The Company plays an active role when it comes to supporting community needs. When other disasters occurred – such as hurricanes and tornados in Alabama or forest fires in Arizona – Resolute donated lumber to help rebuild municipal and community buildings in affected cities and towns.

Resolute Forest Products has offered the municipality of Lac-Mégantic lumber valued at $50,000. The Company will work with its partners and the municipality to identify specific projects.
