Sault Ste. Marie logger receives nearly $400K for equipment
November 25, 2019 By Maria Church
A logging outfit in Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., has received a cash injection of nearly $400,000 from the province to purchase equipment and expand its harvesting operations.
Ross Romano, MPP for Sault Ste. Marie, announced an investment of $399,850 for Avery Timber Ltd. last week. The funding will go towards the purchase of a feller buncher and a log trailer.
According to a government news release, the new equipment will lead to seven new jobs within the company.
“We are grateful for the NOHFC and MPP Ross Romano’s support of our wood harvesting expansion,” said Amanda Williams, representative of Avery Construction’s management team. “Responsible harvesting of Northern Ontario’s sustainable resources is important for our area, and the Ontario government’s assistance allows us to continue to create valuable and ongoing employment opportunities.”
Avery Timber Limited is a subsidiary of Avery Construction Limited.
