Sawmill training program underway in K’atl’odeeche First Nation
Oct. 16, 2018 – Three community members are training to use a sawmill that has been inactive at K’atl’odeeche First Nation for over four years.
October 16, 2018 By Canadian Forest Industries staff
Murphy Pottage, who is providing the training for free, was brought in by the N.W.T’s Department of Education, Culture and Employment, the Aboriginal Skills and Employment Training Strategy, Aurora College, and the K’atl’odeeche First Nation.
The lumber will be used for projects in the community, such as building cabins, and a few trainees want to use these skills to help build up their businesses. Residents will have access to the sawmill through the First Nation once training is complete.
