Saw guide tech creates ideal ratio of water and oil

Nov. 10, 2016 - Industrial Autolube has introduced a Saw Guide System technology that allows a consistent ratio of water to oil at all flow rates to maintain the maximum lubricity in the guides and helps reduce the friction from being created in the guides to begin with.

Water, being 800 times more dense than air, removes heat much more effectively than air. That is why the system uses only water and oil to cool and lubricate.

By keeping the entire guide pocket full of water, it removes much more heat with less water, which also requires less oil. Most customers see a reduction in water and oil on average of 65 per cent.

With continuous dry kilns becoming more common, reducing the moisture content of the sawdust has become a very large issue. If the sawdust moisture is above 53 per cent, it takes heat to drive off that additional moisture and reduces the efficiency of the equipment.

The other side of this is in cold weather, the water starts to freeze up conveyors, bins and other components that can bring your mill down.

Our 581 Saw Guide System uses technology that allows a consistent ratio of water to oil at all flow rates to maintain the maximum lubricity in the guides and helps reduce the friction from being created in the guides to begin with.

The control valves are manifold mounted for a clean and uncluttered look. It also makes maintenance on them very simple. If a valve ever has to be changed, it is just four bolts and the more cost effective valve can be replaced. The Manifold Design allows the system to be configured with as many separate zones as required.

The large Digital Flow Meters also provide an analog output for realtime flow information to the PLC where it can be displayed on a large screen. They also have a digital low flow programmable set point for low flow alarms that can be separate from the analog information.

The oil flow pulses from the prox’s can be set up to provide realtime oil flow rates as well to allow an easy way of maintaining proper water to oil ratios.

The pressure switches monitoring both air and water pressures, are set to a point that alarms if they drop below a minimum pressure to make sure there is always adequate water and air at the system for consistent and reliable operation. These can also be up graded to an analog output as well for integration with the PLC.

Our Automation Packages can also integrate seamlessly with your plant PLC for communications and remote operation. All adjustments are password protected and provide realtime operational information and trend and log any alarms.
