BC mill lays off workers in response to US softwood duties
July 5, 2017 - Galloway Lumber Company in B.C. has cut its production and laid off eight employees in response to U.S. duties on softwood lumber imports.

Galloway’s Jay Nelson told the Fernie Free Press the sawmill has shut down its planer and is working well below capacity. The mill has made some inroads in the Canadian market by producing rig matting for construction in the oil and gas industry.
