Sexton Lumber to optimize line

Apr. 14, 2014 - Sexton Lumber has purchased a complete Transverse Optimizer from VAB Solutions for the sawmill located in Bloomfield, Newfoundland. The transverse scanner-optimizer will replace an existing unit in the sawmill, and will scan for both geometric and visual defects using new low-cost technology designed by VAB.

This new turnkey contract includes the optimization, the PLC & control and all the mechanical tasks related to this project. VAB Solutions Inc., is now proud to offer to its business partners a new transverse optimizer at the sawmill that will stand for its unique technology, delivering an incomparable reading precision at low cost of operation.

"This new equipment at the cutting edge of the technology will enable our business partners to significantly increase their production efficiency by increasing their productivity and the quality of their product," says Marc Voyer, Vice President and General Manager of VAB Solutions Inc.

Sexton Lumber is a privately held sawmill in eastern Newfoundland producing 60 million bdft/yr, which rebuilt its planer mill in 2010 including a VAB planer optimizer. The sawmill has been seen periodic shutdowns since October of last year as its log supply has been unsteady.
