Softwood lumber trade war on the horizon

Aug. 26, 2016 - Optimism for a softwood lumber trade deal between Canada and the U.S. is fading as the October deadline nears, increasing the risk that the U.S. begin a process to enact new tariffs.

Officials held a fourth round of negotiations this week, but Canadian representatives say the countries remain far apart on key issues.
