Sunshine Coast logging dispute
Three people have been arrested on B.C.'s Sunshine Coast, north of Vancouver, as a dispute over logging heats up.

RCMP arrested the trio Tuesday after protesters were served with an injunction ordering them not to infere with logging in an area southeast of Sechelt.
The group Elphinstone Logging Focus had set up what it called a ”peace camp” near a disputed 14-hectare area managed by the Sunshine Coast Community Forest on behalf of the District of Sechelt.
Demonstrators say the rare, low-elevation woodland not far from Mt. Elphinstone should be protected, while officials with the community forest say their mandate is to sustainably harvest timber in a way that benefits the community.
Tensions over the disputed cutblock have been rising in recent weeks, with survey tapes removed from the area about two weeks ago, delaying harvesting plans.
Community Forest Operations Manager Dave Lasser confirmed logging began Tuesday morning after he personally handed copies of a court injunction to demonstrators before Mounties were called to remove those who refused to comply.
