Tax change benefits Canoe Forest Products
April 15, 2016 – Salmon Arm councilors have backed a recommendation to provide some tax support for Canoe Forest Products.
April 15, 2016 By Andrew Macklin
According to a report from the Salmon Arm Observer, the company was facing a significant tax hike as a result of a B.C. assessment of the mill following major upgrades to improve efficiency. The assessment would have caused a tax increase of $64,000 for the mill.
However, Canoe Forest Products asked for an overall reduction in its taxes based on changes to its operation. The plywood operation at the mill continues to run, however the sawmill on the property is no longer in operation.
