Thousands of tree planters raise almost $81K for B.C. food banks

In an effort to give back and support local BC food banks on World Hunger Day, more than 4,500 tree planters and silviculture companies have raised close to $81,000, reports Merritt Herald.

Silviculture companies such as Leader Silviculture and Zanzibar Holdings Ltd., are raising record number amounts of donations with Zanzibar Holdings Ltd, donating $14, 500 divided between 12 different local food banks.

“The planters feel privileged to work safely during the pandemic and wanted to give back to the community during this time. All involved are thankful and eager to share that good fortune with others in need of help. All funds raised were donated to assist families and individuals dealing with financial uncertainties due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Tony Harrison, co-owner of Zanzibar Holdings Ltd.
