Tolko OSB mill restart waiting on FMA

The restart of Tolko Industries' OSB plant west of High Prairie, Alta., is waiting on the renewal of the province's forestry management agreement (FMA).

High Prairie town council and Big Lakes County have both endorsed Tolko’s bid for an extension and/or renewal of its mill, which the company estimates will create 300 direct jobs in manufacturing and logging and an additional 300 indirect jobs.

The government has committed to providing Tolko direction about the renewal or extension of the FMA by September. The current agreement expires May 2017.
