Closing the loop: Using IIOT and real-time control to increase mill profits

The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) represents a massive opportunity for the sawmill, andspecifically, the filing room, to improve efficiencies and increase profits. Williams & White CEO Justin Williams will present on the applications for IIoT in the mill and share details on their newest product, SawSense, which offers real-time saw temperature feedback and control. This new and exciting technology allows sawmills to adjust guide lubrication as required, based on real-time saw blade temperature analysis. SawSense helps mills increase profits by improving efficiencies and reducing crashes and unscheduled saw changes.


Justin Williams
Justin Williams, P.Eng., is the owner and CEO of Williams & White Equipment, a Canadian company based in Burnaby, B.C., specializing in the development and production of automated tool sharpening and grinding machinery and other high-tolerance components and machinery for the sawmill industry. Justin is a registered professional engineer holding a degree in electrical engineering with a minor in commerce. His passion for robotics and automation is a driving force in Williams & White’s product development achievements.

Justin Williams holds a number of patents to his name and has held a number of board positions, including with the Canadian Manufacturers and exporters association and Burnaby Association for Community inclusion.
