Snapshot scanning: Optimizing recovery and performance
Speaker: Joey Nelson, President, JoeScan
In the past, scanning for a lineal edger required an infeed at least twice as long as your longest boards. In this presentation, JoeScan's Joey Nelson will show how advancements in snapshot scanning have enabled more flexible placement of lineal edgers within the mill. He'll also cover the recovery benefits sawmills can expect from an optimized lineal edger upgrade, as well as tips and tricks for getting the best performance and returns from a scanning system.
Joey Nelson learned about the benefits and difficulties of sawmill optimization from an early age. After studying engineering at Washington State University, he founded JoeScan in 1999 with the goal of making scanning easier to use, more reliable, and more affordable. In the twenty years since, Joey has continued to raise the bar for 3D laser scanning in sawmills, introducing innovative new scanners with an industry-leading warranty. Today JoeScan scanners can be found in over 400 sawmills across six continents, and Joey is recognized as one of the world’s leading experts on sawmill scanning.
