Weather conditions favourable in fight against BC wildfires
August 25, 2021 By Ellen Cools
Weather conditions in B.C. are heading in the right direction, according to Todd Nessman, a manager for B.C.’s wildfire service.
Nessman told CBC News that cooler temperatures have helped curtail significant fire growth in the past couple of days. This means firefighting crews have been able to make progress fighting some of the larger fires, including the 809-square-kilometres White Rock Lake fire between Kamloops and Okanagan Lake.
The number of wildfires threatening public safety and property is now down to 24, from 30 at the start of August.
