WEBINAR: Learn the latest about Modern Tall Wood Buildings on September 23!

August 12, 2015 - Join FPInnovations’ Mohammad Mohammad as he discusses recent developments in tall wood buildings (TWBs), using case study examples from around the world, as well as details on recent initiatives in the U.S. and Canada.

Overview
Tall wood buildings have existed for centuries – tall wooden pagodas up to 19 storeys high were built in Japan 1,400 years ago and are still standing today. In the beginning of the 20th century, buildings as high as nine storeys were also constructed in Canada and the U.S. However, the construction of those tall wood buildings in North America stopped toward the mid-20th century and were replaced by reinforced concrete and steel systems. With the arrival of modern mass timber products and advanced wood-based systems, however, tall wood buildings are once again being constructed. The growing pursuit of more sustainable methods of construction is driving the recent interest in tall wood buildings.

In this presentation, information will be provided on the recent development of TWBs with case study examples from around the world. Details on recent initiatives in the U.S. and Canada on tall wood demonstration buildings will also be provided. An overview of FPInnovations’ recent Technical Guide for the Design and Construction of Tall Wood Buildings in Canada that contains technical information to support the design, construction and acceptance of tall wood buildings in building codes will be presented.

And all of this for only $25!
