Webinars: Improve efficiency, productivity in sawmills and filing rooms

File Week 2020 is just around the corner, and this year, CFI is changing things up by hosting two FREE webinars focused on improving efficiency and productivity in the sawmill and the filing room.

Smart sawmill

The first webinar, happening May 6 at 1:00 p.m., focuses on the benefits of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in the filing room and the sawmill. IIoT represents a massive opportunity for the sawmill, and specifically for the filing room, to improve monitoring and efficiency.

Williams & White’s Justin Williams will present on the applications for IIoT in the mill and share details on some of their products, including the Smart Guide Sawsense Performance Monitoring System, based on research from FPInnovations, and the Saw-

Preventing pitch accumulation

The second webinar, happening May 7 at 10:00 a.m., will address how sawmills can improve productivity by preventing pitch accumulation.

Depending on mill equipment, log diet and time of year, pitch accumulation can become a problem for sawmills. The results can be downtime, down-graded lumber, logs that are out of sync with the set works and even logs that break equipment.

But through strategic equipment hygiene, sawmills can avoid this problem.

During this one-hour webinar, Supersaul Chemmex’s Samuel Scheideman will discuss the profit loss associated with pitch accumulation, how some sawmills have tackled the problem, and various methods to tackle pitch accumulation. He will also share use cases for Supersaul Chemmex’s products that eliminate the need to manually remove pitch from equipment. To register for this webinar, click here.
