West Fraser further curtails BC sawmill production for a week

March 26, 2020  By  Maria Church

Starting Monday, West Fraser will be dropping another 24 million board feet of weekly production at its B.C. sawmills as a result of changing operating and market conditions stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.

The curtailment is on top of the company’s previously announced production reductions at its western Canada sawmills that began March 23 and amount to 12 million board feet per week.

Also effective Monday, the company’s Alberta Plywood and Slave Lake Veneer facilities will join its Quesnel plywood facility in a temporary suspension until at least April 6.
