WFP facing possible Chemainus sawmill curtailment due to log shortage

Log shortages may force Western Forest Products to curtail operations at its Chemainus sawmill on Vancouver Island next week.

The B.C. forestry company told CHEK News they are working to secure logs for operations to continue, but that winter weather conditions are affecting harvesting levels.

“Taking downtime at the mill would have a temporary employment impact on approximately 165 employees,” the spokesperson said.
