WFP to reopen Ladysmith sawmill

Jan. 20, 2015 –Western Forest Products has announced that it will reopen its sawmill in Ladysmith, B.C., bringing back 85 workers originally let go when the mill shut down.

According to an article in the Vancouver Sun, WFP’s decision to reopen the mill is based on new orders received by buyers in the Chinese market.

The mill was originally closed in December of 2014 when decreasing demand from export markets caused WFP to reduce the scale of its sawmill operations.
