Willapa Bay Hardwood restarts
Jan. 30, 2014 – A sawmill in upper Washington state has been reopened, according to the Chinook Observer. Willapa Bay Hardwoods began the process of cleaning up the mill and checking the machinery in November 2012. Workers started sawing alders and maples in April 2013, Alex Chaffee, the dry kiln manager told the paper.
They currently have six employees and a sales manger plus some part-time workers. But the sawmill doesn't have a working kiln so it has to ship the green wood to another company for drying.
