Feb. 13, 2015 – The federal government is asking the World Trade Organization to solve the dispute that has erupted over Chinese duties for Canadian wood-pulp exports.
According to a CTV report, Canada had filed a complaint with the WTO over the issue, but China failed to follow WTO rules when investigating the complaint.
As a result, the government has asked for a WTP panel to be established, which would then provide a report on the validity of Canada’s complaints.
The duties were originally established in November of 2013, and became permanent in April of 2014.
