AFPA on the passing of former Premier Don Getty

February 26, 2016 - The Alberta Forest Products Association released the following statement on the passing of former Premier Don Getty:

Alberta’s forestry sector was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of the province’s 11th Premier, the Honourable Don Getty.

Premier Getty recognized the value of focusing on Alberta’s strengths by diversifying our resource economy. He was a strong proponent of the forest industry in Alberta and put considerable effort into helping create one of the most technologically advanced forestry sectors in the world.

His legacy continues to be felt today. Our thoughts are with his family.
