Columbia Forest Products looking to re-open Rutherglen mill
March 18, 2019 By Ellen Cools
Columbia Forest Products is hoping to re-start its Rutherglen, Ont. hardwood veneer mill after it was shut down in late January, when cracks were discovered in the facility’s roof.
On January 28, several horizontal beams cracked in the ceiling, Chris Daur, manager at the plant, told Northern Ontario Business.
Daur anticipates the mill will be fully operational again as early as April.
“The company is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to do the repairs, so we are hoping to re-open within the next couple of weeks,” Daur said to Northern Ontario Business.
