Industry entrepreneur honoured

The founder and President of Master Promotions Ltd., which owns and manages such events as DEMO International and the Canada North Resources Expo, was recently honoured by the Saint John Board of Trade.

Wendell Howes was presented with the Saint John Board of Trade’s Outstanding Business Achievement award in the Entrepreneurial Achievement Award category in front of a packed house at the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre. The Entrepreneurial Achievement Award is designed to recognize a company or individual that has started a business, considerably improved a company, or modified an existing enterprise.

From humble beginnings in Howes’ basement in 1973, with the launch of the Saint John Boat & RV Show, to becoming one of Canada’s largest and most recognized event management firms has come with much hard work and dedication.
“To be recognized in our home town, by the business community for what we have achieved is fantastic,” said Howes. “We will continue to grow Master Promotions Ltd. over the next few years and we are very excited with what the future has in store for this company,” explained Howes.

Master Promotions Ltd. has grown to a portfolio of over 40 Trade and Consumer Shows from St. John’s, Newfoundland to Vancouver, British Columbia.

In 2000, a Halifax office was added with the purchase of the Halifax based DENEX Group. This acquisition included several established Maritime events and solidified Master Promtions Ltd.’s presence in Atlantic Canada.

In 2009, Master Promotions Ltd. purchased Square Feet North West Events Management of Burnaby, British Columbia and the addition of a Western Canadian Office.

Much of Master Promotions Ltd.’s growth has come from specific industry research and being associated with various industry groups, associations and individuals to develop highly successful Trade and Consumer events.

Master Promotions Ltd. currently owns and manages Canada’s largest trade shows in the forestry, heavy construction equipment, marine, commercial fishing, trucking and logistics and agricultural industries.
