Quebec invests nearly $430,000 in forest sector training

The Quebec government has announced a $428,823 investment towards training programs in the wood processing and paper manufacturing sector.

The announcement was made by Nancy Guillemette, Member of Parliament for Roberval, on behalf of Employment Minister Kateri Champagne Jourdain. The investment aims to address the needs of companies in the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.

The tailored training program, designed to meet specific industry needs, offers a total of 800 hours of training, including 480 hours in class and 320 hours of paid internships. Developed in collaboration with the Centre de services scolaires du Pays-des-Bleuets, the program targets 16 workers from seven regional companies.

Guillemette emphasizes the significance of skilled workers in sustaining the forestry sector’s pivotal role in the regional economy. The initiative is supported by Formabois, the wood workforce sectoral committee, ensuring effective implementation.
