Sinclar Group to temporarily curtail three BC sawmills
August 1, 2019 By Ellen Cools
Sinclar Group Forest Products Ltd. announced yesterday that it will be temporarily curtailing Lakeland Mills in Prince George, Nechako Lumber in Vanderhoof and Apollo Forest Products in Fort St. James, B.C., due to high log costs and challenging market conditions.
According to Prince George Daily News, the mills will be closed for two weeks, starting Aug. 19.
“As a long-standing, family-run company, rooted and operating in north central B.C., the decision we’ve had to make today was not an easy one,” said Sinclar Group President Greg Stewart in a statement. “We’ve deferred the decision as long as possible, due to our commitment to our employees and communities.”
The curtailments will reduce production by approximately 25 mmbf, reports Prince George Daily News.
