Annual year-end slowdown keeps lumber prices flat: Madison’s

In the week ending Dec. 1, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$414 mfbm. This is flat from the previous week. That week’s price is up by $11, or three per cent, from one month ago when it was $403 mfbm.
Compared to the same week last year, when it was $400 mfbm, that week’s price is up by $14, or three per cent. Compared to two years ago when it was $710 mfbm, that week’s price is down by $296 or 42 per cent.
In the week ending December 1, 2023, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was $430 mfbm. This is up by $15, or four per cent from the previous week when it was $415 mfbm.
That week’s price is up by $16, or four per cent from one month ago when it was $414 mfbm. Compared to the same week last year when it was $445 mfbm, that week’s price is down by $15, or three per cent. Compared to two years ago when it was $835 mfbm, that week’s price is down by $405, or 49 per cent.
