August 8, 2019  By  Ellen Cools

A wildfire in B.C.’s Okanagan Valley, known as the Eagle Bluff fire, has grown from 2.25 kilometres on Monday to almost nine kilometres today.

According to CBC News, the fire will likely continue to grow, as temperatures for the area continue to rise.

An evacuation alert has been issued for nearby communities, including the McKinney Creek area and the Senkulmen Business Park in Oliver, B.C., reports  CBC News.

Around 80 firefighters are battling the blaze, along with helicopters. Meanwhile the B.C. Wildfire Service is using a controlled burn with small hand ignitions to remove fuel between the community and the fire.
