Tembec appoints new VP

Tembec announced the appointment of Linda Coates to the position of Vice President, Human Resources and Corporate Affairs.

Ms. Coates joined Tembec in May 2011 as Corporate Vice President, Communications and Public Affairs. As a member of the Executive Team, she was responsible for Communications, Public Relations and Government Relations.

In her new role, Ms. Coates will be leading the continued transformation of the organization as the senior executive accountable for all aspects of the Human Resources function, as well as Internal and External Communications. "The level of experience and leadership qualities that Linda provides will enable Tembec to achieve world-class performance from a people management perspective," stated President and CEO James Lopez.

Over the course of her 25-year career, Ms. Coates has held various senior executive positions in Canada and Europe with global, diversified, leading companies involved in the sectors of mining and metallurgy (Noranda, now Xstrata), cement and related products (St. Lawrence Cement, now Holcim) and high technology manufacturing (Bombardier). Ms. Coates graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Linguistics and Communications from Université de Montréal and a Master Degree in Business Administration from Université de Sherbrooke.
