Ministry of Forests bans resource open management fires due to COVID-19

Beginning on Thursday, April 16, at noon, the Ministry of Forests and BC Wildfire Service will ban all category two, category three and resource open management fires. This ban will be put in place due to communities being self-isolated following COVID-19 fears which will create a delay on regular fire bans during the upcoming wildfire season and the limitations to respond to wildfires.

Due to the upcoming ban, BC forest management companies were seen burning over the Easter weekend, reports The Williams Lake Tribune.
