Offers now open for closed Skeena sawmill and pellet plant

The Skeena Sawmills facility and sister pellet plant in Terrace, B.C., both closed and under receivership, are officially for sale as a package, reported the Terrace Standard.
Earlier this year, Skeena Sawmills indefinitely shut operations citing high operating costs, lack of a secure fibre supply and weak markets making its operation uneconomical. The closure included the next-door pellet plant subsidiary, Skeena Bioenergy, which uses residue from the mill.
According to the Terrace Standard, initial offers to the receiver appointed in September by the B.C. Supreme Court are welcome up until Dec. 8, followed by a deadline of Jan. 12 to submit a final bid.
