Ontario government investing $4M in Lavern Heideman & Sons

Ontario Minister of Natural Resources and Forestry visited Eganville, Ont.-based Lavern Heideman & Sons today, where he announced the provincial government will invest $4 million over five years in the mill.

According to a government press release, the funding will be used to improve productivity in the company’s forestry infrastructure and secondary manufacturing components. With this investment, Lavern Heideman & Sons will be able to significantly increase production levels and produce higher-value products. Eighteen new jobs will be created as a result of this investment.

“Investments like this demonstrate the government’s commitment to Ontario’s forestry sector,” said Kris Heideman, vice-president of Lavern Heideman & Sons, in a statement. “Lavern Heideman & sons and our hard-working employees look forward to contributing to the growth of the economy in Eastern Ontario and playing an important role in supporting the Ontario government’s forest sector strategy.”
