Islanders urged to shape future forest policy
March 4, 2024 By CFI Staff
In a bid to chart a course for the future of forestry on Prince Edward Island, the Forestry Commission has rolled out a comprehensive consultation initiative, calling upon Islanders to share their insights and concerns. With the release of Towards A New Forest Policy, a discussion paper dissecting 13 pivotal forestry issues, the commission aims to ignite a robust dialogue and gather crucial feedback from the community through a newly unveiled survey.
From grappling with the sustainability of biomass supply to navigating the complexities of legislative frameworks and bolstering resilience against extreme weather, the discussion paper delves into pressing matters at the heart of P.E.I.’s forestry landscape. Urging Islanders to seize this opportunity to make their voices heard, the commission has made the survey available on their website.
Deadline for feedback is Aug. 31.
