Prices of lumber jump as sales improve: Madison’s

Lumber and stud prices advanced steadily as demand marched forward. Panels were a hand-wringing affair for secondary suppliers. In the week ending March 1, the price of Western S-P-F 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was US$452 mfbm. This is up $10 or two per cent from the previous week when it was $442.
That week’s price is up by $8, or two per cent from one month ago when it was $444 mfbm. Compared to the same week last year, when it was $400 mfbm, that week’s price is up by $52, or 13 per cent.
In the week ending March 1, the price of Southern Yellow Pine East Side 2×4 #2&Btr KD (RL) was $415 mfbm. This is up by $5, or one per cent from the previous week when it was $410 mfbm.
That week’s price is up by $10, or two per cent from one month ago when it was $405 mfbm. Compared to the same week last year, when it was $507 mfbm, that week’s price is down by $92, or 18 per cent.
