RCMP now enforcing ban on logging blockades in Fairy Creek

The RCMP has begun enforcing a court injunction banning blockades of logging activities in the Fairy Creek watershed area near Port Renfrew, B.C.
According to CBC News, the police are now temporarily controlling access to the area, to allow loggers from Teal-Cedar Products to begin operations. A checkpoint will remain in place on a forestry access road until the company has completed harvesting.
Protestors have blockaded access to the Fairy Creek watershed since last summer to prevent Teal-Jones from logging the old-growth forest in the company’s 595-square-kilometre tenure. The B.C. Supreme Court issued an injunction on April 1 allowing logging in the area.
