BC's Jobs, Tourism, and Skills Training Minister is hinting the proposed trades training centre at the former Rustad mill site may no longer be in the cards.

Work towards the joint venutre between Canfor and the BID Group has gone quiet, at least publically.

Meanwhile Pat Bell told HQPrinceGeorge.com an assessment is underway to see what post-secondary schools in the North require for facilities.

“The College of New Caledonia is looking at what their space requirments might be. There are some gaps that are necessary, particularily in the heavy duty mechanics program. Other areas there have been significant investments by this government in trades training facilities.”

It was originally hoped the Rustad trades training centre would be open and ready for students by January, but now with less than three months to go, there has been no movement on the proposal.
