Dust Safety Week 2020 is approaching!

June 5, 2020  By CFI Staff

Canadian Forest Industries and Canadian Biomass will once again highlight dust safety best practices, technical information and solutions during Dust Safety Week from June 22-26.

Since Dust Safety Week began in 2016, it has grown into a well-known event with participation from organizations and companies across Canada. Now in its fourth year, our Dust Safety Week coverage is the hub for pellet plants and sawmills across the country to learn best practices and find the latest information to keep their operations and operators safe.

Mark your calendars for June 22-26 and follow along with us as we highlight feature stories, columns and research reports from our archives, as well as brand new stories.

New this year

This year, we’re adding a new element to Dust Safety Week – a FREE one-hour webinar happening June 25 at 1:00 p.m. EST, called “Demystifying the Dust Hazard Analysis.” VETS Sheet Metal’s Francis Petit will present on what needs to be included in a Dust Hazard Analysis (DHA) as required by NFPA 652 (Standard on the Fundamentals of Combustible Dust), why it’s important, how to apply it to your facility and manage it, and more. He’ll also be sharing case studies and answering attendees’ questions.

Thank you to our generous sponsors:

Note: A previous version of this article incorrectly stated that NFPA 652 will require all pellet plant owners to conduct a Dust Hazard Analysis for existing facilities and processes by Sept. 7, 2020. In reality, NFPA 652 is not a legal requirement in all jurisdictions. The British Columbia Workers Compensation Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Regulation do not require employers to complete a DHA. CFI apologizes for the error.
