
An overnight fire at New Brunswick-based Miramichi Lumber Products destroyed the building earlier this week, reports CBC News.
A fire broke out behind the shut-down mill on the evening of Oct. 7, which firefighters quickly put out. But a second fire broke out three hours later, destroying the building.
Hal Raper, chief financial officer and woodlands manager for Maritime Lumber (which owns Miramichi Lumber), told CBC News he believes the cause of the fire was arson. He also said it would cost $15 million to replace the building and its equipment.
