More than 60 wildfires burning in NW Ontario

As of Monday, July 5, more than 60 wildfires were burning in northwestern Ontario, with a dozen listed as not under control.
According to CBC News, one fire, Kenora 51, in Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, has grown to more than 22,200 hectares. An incident management team has been assigned to the fire.
So far, the 2021 forest fire season has been an active one, with 502 fires reported across the province. But, the fires have burned a smaller number of hectares than the 10-year average, at 77,900 hectares.
