Wildfires prompt states of emergency in Manitoba

Wildfires across Manitoba have led communities to declare states of emergencies and prepare for potential evacuations.

According to Global News, the RM of North Cypress and the Town of Carberry have declared states of emergency because of a fire near CFB Shilo. Meanwhile, the community of Homebrook might be evacuated as a wildfire there has pushed through a perimeter.

A fire near Gypsumville, Man., is now nearly 700 square kilometres, while two fires near Lake St. Martin First Nation and Dauphin River First Nation merged, now covering approximately 1,100 hectares.

The province is also concerned a fire near Homebrook, Man., estimated to be between 60-70,000 hectares, could expand, Global News reports.
